There’s only one more month until it’s time for the San Antonio
Spurs to get on the courts and play their preseason games...and then, it’s
gonna be an action-packed three weeks! Here’s a quick roundup of who they’re
playing and when:
Spurs Vs Phoenix Suns - October 3
The first preseason game for the Spurs, this match is a
continuation of a rivalry that began in the 1990s. Members of the Western
Conference Pacific Division, the Phoenix Suns have the fourth best all-time
winning percentage in the NBA and hold the record for the highest winning
percentage but never winning the NBA Championship...will this game be the start
of a big change?
Spurs Vs Atlanta Hawks - October 8
From Atlanta, Georgia, the Atlanta Hawks are a franchise that
formed in 1946 and went through several avatars - Tri-Cities Blackhawks,
Milwaukee Hawks, and St. Louis Hawks - before getting their current name in
1968. Having only recently breaking their 48-year spell of not progressing
beyond the playoffs’ second round, it remains to be seen how this season pans
out!
Spurs Vs Detroit Pistons - October 10
Based in Auburn Hills, Michigan...a Detroit suburb, the Detroit
Pistons are three-time NBA champions, having won the title in 1989, 1990, and
2004. The 2000s saw some rivalry between the Pistons and the Spurs, which has since
settled down. Perhaps this coming game will see that fighting spirit resurface?
Spurs Vs Orlando Magic - October 12
Orlando Magic is a fairly young franchise, formed in 1989, that
has reached the NBA Finals twice, in 1995 and 2009, but have yet to win themselves
a title. With both the Magic and Spurs competing in the South West Division,
ranked fifth and first respectively, this match should be fun to watch!
Spurs Vs Miami Heat - October 14
While the Spurs and Miami Heat don’t have a rivalry for the
ages, fans are of the opinion that any matches between the teams are a thing of
beauty to witness. Are you gonna be there to watch the magic happen?
Spurs Vs Houston Rockets - October 21
Another chance to watch the excitement of the “I-10” rivalry at
play, fans are unlikely to miss this game. Named so since both cities are on
the Interstate 10, the Rockets-Spurs rivalry has gone on for 40 years,
beginning when the Spurs joined the NBA and beat the Rockets to the division
title in 1977. Any bets on who comes out on top here?
